Field Funeral Services: A Funeral Director with the Personal Touch

Field Funeral Services

As a celebrant, Steve works closely with funeral directors across Staffordshire and the Midlands. This article will look specifically at Field Funeral Services; a funeral director with a difference that shares a similar people-centred ethos to Steve. A small, local funeral director with a reputation for going above and beyond, the funeral of your loved one is certainly in safe hands when you choose Field Funeral Services.

About Field Funeral Services

Based in Tean, Staffordshire, Field Funeral Services is run by husband and wife team Lee and Bella Field. Tean is a large village in Staffordshire, however, the scope of service for this funeral director extends into Uttoxeter and all of the surrounding villages. Helping clients to organise funeral services at many local churches and crematoriums Lee and Bella strive to provide a unique, personal service that meets the needs of each individual family. To discuss the funeral of your loved one you can call Lee and Bella.

Recognising the compassionate work of Steve, Bella identifies clients that would benefit from his gentle guidance and support in composing a funeral service for a loved one. Bella states that ‘Steve is compassionate, caring, and easy to work with, he uses great initiative, and we know that we don’t have to worry when Steve is officiating.’

Lee and Bella Field

Lee Field has been working in the funeral industry since he was just 17-years old, a little frustrated with some of the practices of large corporate funeral directors, he decided to set up Field Funeral Services along with his wife Bella. Operating since 2012, their funeral services are known in Staffordshire for being centred around every family and their unique requirements. Field Funeral Services is a member of SAIF, an organisation set up specifically to support independent funeral directors.

As funeral director, Lee is the face of the business. Bella is pivotal in taking charge of the administration, setting up the venues, organising flowers, cars, pallbearers, and other funeral service staff. As a family business, their two young boys even help on occasion.

About working with Lee and Bella Steve says

“I have always been very impressed with Bella’s attention to detail. The little sentiments and details mean such a lot to the families. I notice them too.

Lee and his team are always so natural and easy to work with. Nothing forced.

I cannot remember ever hearing or receiving anything detrimental about them from families, quite the contrary.

A very human, independent funeral service.”

Personal Service Makes All The Difference

In creating Field Funeral Services, Lee had an aim to offer a truly personal service, unique in the Staffordshire area, that goes above and beyond what you’d traditionally expect from a funeral director.  One of the ways in which the service stands out the most is the recognition that not every person that has lost a loved one wants to organise the funeral inside of the funeral home; for some people this is simply too overwhelming.

Lee makes the effort to go to the home of the family of the person that has died. Appointments are offered at evenings and weekends, enabling wider families that may have work commitments to be part of the organisational process. To further help the family he will also go back and collect clothes and other items of the person that has died that will be required for the funeral service. This small act makes a big difference to families when they are grieving and have a lot of other practicalities to deal with.

Another frustration for Lee when working for a commercial funeral director was the requirement to upsell to families in their time of grief. When working with families it is commonplace for him to say, ‘this is the coffin I am having, it is the cheapest, but it is beautiful’. Obviously, if a family want something different or more expensive there are many coffin options available; however, it is not Lee’s aim to upsell an unnecessarily expensive coffin, it is his aim to provide a great value service, and to be of service to families at what will be one of the most difficult times in their life.
